Microchips - cause of cancer or not?

I thought this was interesting when I read the link elsewhere:

AntiChips - Cancer (though given the name of their site, I can't help but feel they might be slightly biased )

A different POV:

Microchip?

Well all the dogs i have owned have been chipped as pups, and never devloped any type of skin cancer due to the chip.
So maybe but i would think the risk is slim.

Interesting and it is something I've wondered about.
Have to say though, I've not heard of one case of a microchip being suspected of causing a cancer....that doesn't mean they don't though.

But some breeds are more prone to cancer than others, i wonder if by being chipped that increases the chances to some degree.
But we had boxers, prone to cancers, tumors etc yet ours never devloped it and they was chipped.
Maybe it depends on the breed and the individual dog.

I'm certain this has been posted before and only one dog (as I remember rightly) has had a cancerous lump at the site of the chip. The research in rodents it was such a tiny proportion that actually reacted and they do actually breed mice of different strains so some are more susceptible to cancers and tumours than other strains so without knowing all the facts it is difficult to comment.
However, there are over 3 million animals chipped in the UK alone,a long with all those that are chipped abroad and I would have thought if it was a major problem then something would have surfaced by now.
