I think the problem was that, during the 80's, Rottie's and GSD's were used as guard dogs, status dogs etc..

We lived next door to a pub that kept about 4 GSD's loose in the yard as guard dogs, and they were truly terrifying. Even now, I'm always wary about GSD's....

Funny thing is, I'd happily have a Rottie now
