Two on the Tor (Malinois & Terv X)

Merlin and Rue had their first official meeting on Sunday which was a little....explosive... in places.

But Merlin is already starting to chill out..... he is always nervous of other dogs, and today's walk was a very good one

He didn't really need the muzzle on during the walk as we didn't let them offlead, I'd just not got round to taking it off earlier when both dogs weer muzzled and mooching around my sister's garden.

A little wary, keeping an eye and ear on her, but she's not too worried.

Politeness: while not 100% happy at close proximity, you don't turn your head away from someone you're nervous of!

Looks good looking at their body language as they both look very relaxed in close proximity to each other. Well done and keep up the good work!

Thank you
Rue is happy, but she is a much more grounded girl anyway. She only gets arsy when another dog is being rude, eyeballing her or just being a prat!

It's Merls who's the problem, he's always been prickly around other dogs, and I can see it was him who set things off on their first walk together. But I also know, given time, he does chill.... he's always going to be reactive so sometimes he will explode, even with dogs he does know, but this time he seemed so much happier. And for a split second back at my sister's house he went into a play-bow.... then remembered it might not have been appropriate, bless him.

She is turning away I would think to avoid eye contact and help make him feel OK about her---a sort of appeasing signal.

Thanks all
Fingers crossed it all still seems to be going well. Yesterday they were muzzled at first at my sister's house, I kicked a ball in the garden & Merlin went after it, but crashed into Rue who jumped at him and noisily told him off.... but he didn't retaliate. After a nice long on-lead walk together, back home we let both dogs mooch about without muzzles on, with no trouble at all.
