Twiggy 13.5.00 - 21.7.12

Fursdon Twylyte Tramontano K9MS2 AD BH FH1 FH2 CDex UDex WDex TDex

13.5.00 – 21.7.12

It is with great sorrow that I took the decision to have Twiggy put to sleep this morning. What can I say that has not already been said about her? She was the most versatile, titled Weimaraner, HPR, gundog and dog of any breed in the UK.

Twiggy was bred by Gary and Teresa Clinick, who kept her litter brother Skye (Fursdon Winter Whirlwind) CDex UDex WDex TDex ) thus making breed history by being the first to breed two littermates to achieve TDex. She was also litter sister to Callie (Fursdon Midnight Monsoon CDex UDex) who was owned by Lisa Coull.

Excelling at tracking, Twiggy had 14 TDex qualifications to her credit, 10 of which saw her appear in the top ten; including 2 x 3rd places and 1 x “ticket

• Placed in KC Open Agility Competition
• Placed 2nd in Special Beginners Gundog Working Test
• Graded “excellent” gundog conformation assessment
• Class winner at Championship Breed Shows including Crufts
• Temperament tested “Excellent”

Apart from her many accomplishments in the field of competition Twiggy has featured in Dog World, Our Dogs, the APDT newsletter, the Kennel Gazette, Dogs Today, Working Trials Monthly to name but a few. She has represented the breed at Discover Dogs, Festival of Falconry, several gamefairs, appeared in the PAT dog parade at Crufts, as well as featuring on BBC TV sat on a sofa next to Ben Fogle!

But I am most proud of her work outside the spotlight. Twiggy was a fantastic assistant in her role as a stooge dog, where necessary, when I assessed dogs for IWRRS/WCGB rescue due to her superb temperament and highly developed social skills.

I was very lucky to own a dog that was at home with anyone, anywhere doing anything.

Like stars across the sky, you were born to shine.

Well, i'm gobsmacked to be reading this. I cannot begin to imagine the heartache you must be feeling to lose a dog that you have achieved so much with and which has been an integral part of your life for so long.

So sorry SB, sleep tight Twiggy xx
