What 'wrong identifications' have you had out with your dog?

I think every dog owner with a breed outside the most popular (GSD, BC, GR, LR, etc) has been there. You're out walking with your dog and you meet another walker who confidently says, "Nice dog. He's a (insert dog breed), isn't he?" "Er... no," you say.

With our English pointers it was nearly always 'Dalmatian'. Because they were sort of spotty.
With Otto, though, (GSP x GWP) people are going even wider off the mark. I've had 'Foxhound' and 'clipped Springer Spaniel' recently...

Also once I was out walking our very geriatric pointer Phoebe (about 12 years old) and somebody said, "Oh, this one's just a puppy, isn't he?"

My last GSP often was described as a Springer. One man furiously accused me of shaving him.

One woman loudly described my current GSP to her children as a Chocolate Lab crossed with a Great Dane.

I get it all the time, usually along the lines of 'she's cute, Beagle isnt she?' or 'i like your sausage dog'
oh and someone once asked me how old he was, and when i said 'about 6 months' they said 'oh i thought he was about 15' !!!

Dutch always gets called a 'she', poor chap!

Bo the Slovak has had...

Short-haired Collie (WTF?), Bedlington Terrier, a Spinnaker (think they meant Spinone LOL), Water Spaniel, Italian Spinone, Labradoodle, Weimaraner and recently a Giant Schnauzer (really??)...just to name a few.

I have a rare breed and get this all the time!

My Kerry Blue terriers are described as Poodles, Schnauzers, Labradoodles, Scotties, Schnauzer crosses.

How anyone can think Scottie the size of them I don't know!
