Has docking been banned in england now?

Don't want to start a debate - just a yes or no will do

Just not sure about it's current status?! The MP's voted yes for a ban - is it banned now, or going to be soon, or otherwise?!

I know the Scottish Parliament voted for a Ban up here but I'm not sure about the rest of the UK.

I've been told by my breeder that a total ban on docking comes in in October.

I'm very sad about that as my preferred breed, Dobermann , may well be seeing the last of it's days

I'm sure I will be shouted down for saying that; but Dobes are beautiful dogs without their whip like tails.

I have mixed views too, and i do own a docked breed. They definately look better without their tails, but i'd love them just as much with a tail.

I too have a Dobermann (just 13 weeks old) and was led to believe that damage to the spine can occur if the tail is not docked.

I think docking when it is for medical reasons is okay but cosmetic should definitely be banned. Isn't there a docked breed council in existence that champions docking for certain breeds only on medical grounds?
