Importing a dog from abroad?

Just wondering what it would entail and what it might cost? Take into consideration the dog is not recognised by the UK KC (if that makes a difference? ).

Anyone any experience/idea?

Cheers people!

I checked this out when I was thinking of returning to the UK. Your best bet is to check out the Defra website - Pet travel scheme! I'll warn you it's long

Well I'm doing that with my Cooper, he's due in the country on the 7th November.
The lady he's with does all the PP for you. Here's a Link with all the info.

So am I right in thinking the pup would stay with this lady and she'd deal with everything until the pup is ready to be "shipped"? Another question, how old will your pup be when he's allowed to come on to British soil? The whole PP thing has me in circles!

Yes Karen takes care of all that is required (as long as you pay her of course lol!) so you don't need to remember anything lol!
The simple break down is as follows
1) your puppy has to be microchipped
2) vaccinated against rabies and it can't have a rabies jab until it is 3 calender months old
3) have a blood test taken to see if there are adequate antibodies, the recommended is 30 days I had Cooper day 18 and he passed but Karen said she wouldn't do it again because the french vets get a bit agitated about it all!
4) then it has to be 6 months from the date of a positive blood test was taken so the dog is 10 months old before entering the UK, although in Coopers case 9.5 mths!
It's cost me about 3,500 euros including the puppy but excluding visits lol!
