Destruction by Dog

Coming home to destruction: -

Worried when you walk out the door, what your going to find when you get home. You've heard
the terror stories from others about how their carpet was ripped up, holes chewed in material,
floor tiles ripped up. The hours of work in the garden gone, destroyed by YOUR dog. Then
there's the letter from the bylaw enforcement, telling you your dog is making noises all day,
disrupting the quiet neighbourhood with it's constant barking. You have to love your dog !

Reality is that when you come through the door all of that stops. No barking, digging, tearing at
things. Just a happy, bouncy, glad to see you, dog.

This behavioral problem is not that hard to correct. Actually one of the more common behavioural issues.

So! Why is my dog barking and being so destructive when I leave? Well, lets imagine for a moment that the child in your care is outside the house, and you can not get to it, to protect it, that is your job----would you calmly carry on with your day. Not likely, you would do anything you could to
get out there with the child, screaming, pulling on doors, working at windows etc. Energy levels
would be off the chart.

We are aware of the many ways stress affects our lives, shouting, fingernail chewing, excessive
drinking or eating, a need to keep busy. This is the same for your dog. Again the cause of the problem is simply that your dog thinks it is the pack leaders in the home. Their job is to keep an eye on you and protect you. That is why your dog is stressed when you leave them. The chewing actually releases endorphins which can help calm your dog down, very similar to when humans are stressed and chew chewing gum.

The real solution is simple, straight forward, logical and not expensive… YOU become the pack leader and then your dog will happily rest at home when you leave. The dog is stressed, he needs to know that you are in control, and you are the pack leader. Once that is established, the rest is all down hill, and the best place to understand how to achieve this is Doggy Dan’s video website.

Learn the 5 Golden Rules to ensure that your dog understands that you are the pack leader and are free to come and go as you please.

Dan’s methods are also very kind and gentle as he understands how to work with the dogs nature It's an amazing solution. For more information visit

Oh dear! The 'magic pill' lives on.

When dogs start paying the mortgage, I'll look again at the 'pack leader' theory. Until then - purleeeze

O dear ... the OP completely misunderstands the concept of what being the pack leader is all about.

The pack leader does not leave his pack ... which is why a lot of dogs suffer from separation anxiety. It is BECAUSE the pack leader has left that many dogs become so stressed and start to destroy the house.

Whether or not you believe in the pack leader concept, most dogs prefer to be with their owners and not left home alone whilst the owners go out to work. That is not to say that I am condemning all dog owners who leave their dogs home alone, I am just merely stating facts ... the fact that most dogs would prefer to be with their owners 24 x 7.
