Which headcollar?

I know there are several different headcollars available but just wondered which gave the better control - one that fastens at the back of the head, eg a martingale or canny, or one that fastens under the chin, eg dogmatic, halti?

I use Dogmatic and get along with them very well. I found Haltis too prone to slipping. The Gentle Leader I used kept coming loose but might have been a faulty one, I did try a Canny Collar and found it didn't stop the pulling at all and caused a real raspy throat sound every time she did pull!
Personally I'm not so keen on the martingale style as it must tighten around the muzzle every time the dog pulls I like that the Dogmatic pretty much stays in shape like a horses halter.

After about a year I have finally desensitized my dog to a head collar. (Thanks to strangechilde.) I tried several different types, and the Gentle Leader works best for my dog. (Dogmatics are not available here.)

I use the headcollar with a European doubled ended leash. (Someone on this board had posted a picture.) And I attach the other end to a no pull harness. My dog is leash reactive, and I feel like I can manage her safely now.

I use both Halti and gentle leaders, I don't find much difference. I only use the Haltis with the padded noseband as I found the other type rubbed the coat.

There are many designs of head halters. What suits one dog does not suit another, It is not only about where the point of control is situated but the shape of the dog's head and also consideration should be given to the type of fastener eg clip or buckle, how hairy the dog is, and how many times the equipment will be taken on and off a dog during a walk/day etc.

Iv used the halti and find it really good, i dont need to use it all the time and im trying to use it less and less and thats going well, the only downside to a head collar is the comments you get or hear where they have mistaken it for a muzzel and think your dog bites etc, some ppl can actually be very rude as i found at the park yesterday! it doesnt even look like a muzzel since it doesnt even cover his mouth lol!

That's part of the reason I went for the Dogmatic headcollars, the leather range comes in pastel colours - I went for baby pink and baby blue. I don't think anyone's mistaken them for a muzzle yet, people tend to get curious and ask what they are instead.
