Those of you with multiple dogs and day trips out

just thinking about this before (mainly for when i have another dog, i can manage two cresteds fine if i decided to take both)

when you go on day trips out, say to a game fair, or country fair (like cheshire show) even horse shows etc. do you take your dog?

i see alot of people at agriculture shows and horse shows who often have their dog in tow. its something i like to do, but in all honesty dont, because asbo is very nervy in new situations, and i know he wouldnt enjoy a whole day at a show. daphni would, but she isnt fussed about being left behind either..

my question is really for those of you with multiple dogs, do you ever take just one? and leave say the other two at home together? do you have a favourite one you take with you? or one who is easier, or do you rotate so each dog would get a day out with you at a place like this?

Usually I just take Mav, he is the easiest, sadie isnt really a people person so doesnt enjoy the crowds and constant walking, Ripley gets bored very quickly. Mav just loves the attention and is very laid back in places like that.
Though I did take them all to badminton horse trials last year.

we take all, we don't have issues with them when at places like you suggest, only thing we do is separate Bruce and Tess and they have been known to play about with each other when on leads, so Pat has Bruce and Skye and I have Tess and Mojo. works for us

If it`s an event, I only take one as a rule. And there has to be a reason to take that one. I wouldn`t imagine any of my dogs would enjoy standing about in a crowd on lead all day. I`d only take them if there was a point to it (doggy activities or socialisation for example).

I used to regularly take Shadow and Wolf out separately. Not to events or fairs or anything like that, just for walks. If I had gone to any sort of events and taken a dog I'd have taken Wolf over Shadow every time. Wolf was friendly with everyone and everything, Shadow preferred to be left alone.

with things like agriculture fairs there are usually activities on, or things for the dog to interact with, which i think is a good socialisation in itself. im just thinking ahead of if i have a bigger breed than the cresteds (they are fairly easy to cope with two small ones) whether i would want to take the two littleuns and a big one and how much they would all enjoy it (although asbo doesnt go anyway)

They do tend to like the burger van as well....

Just bought a weekend toy for my lot, it is a ford transit ex police dog van so I can take a number out at the same time.
If we were going to the coast then i will fill it, if it is to somewhere where I need to be more focused on an individual then they take turns and then I explain myself to the rest ... "You went to Matchnight last week it is Caffrey's turn" lol I am that mad dog woman lol

I have two small dogs and have no problems taking them out for days out. I really enjoy it and so do they. From days out to the beach to Companion dog shows, fun dog days etc.

On of the reasons why I have small dogs and only two of them - more practical! My limit would be three.
