What breed would you consider the ultimate guard??

hi all, i posted this in the other room,

I was having a debate with my brother which dog is the ultimate guard dog, i debated that the presa breed is a very good guard,

What do you think??

As we dont have many presa's in Denmark, I would choose a rottie or a gsd with the proper training of course...

The Swedish Vallhund is the best guard. They have a large bark (people have old me that my Vallhund sounds more like a GSD than a 15 kg dog) and most people underestimate the power of their bite

But if you are thinking thats a "wussy" breed. Then my money would be with the Black Russian Terrier or any of the Russian Oftcharkas (Caucasian, Middle Asian, or South Russian) Rotties can be good, as can GSDs, but they are not specially bred for protection work, BRTS and Oftcharkas are. I couldn't say about Presas.

I'd say any dog would make a good deterrent. But a good guard for any 'real' situation would require proper training.

I had to ask myself what I really need in a dog, and in my situation I need a Family dog first. Guard Dog second. so I spent as much time as I could draging my kids around to events and basicly narrowed it down to a couple of breeds and picked the one I liked best.

That being said if I did'nt have kids I would have gone with a Malinois. Very serious Dogs.

I've never met a Caucasian I've only read about them.
