Can I use this for a hamster?

Ok, so my friend Tracy just lost her two wee mice, they went to the rainbow bridge last week. Poor wee things (sleep tight).

Anyway, she has given me a load of their stuff left over, amongst which is a load of chinchilla sand, I assume the mice like to use it for the same thing chinchillas do.

However, I wondered if Mr Fluffy, our wee mad hairy hamster can make use of it, or would it be dangerous for him?

Any suggestions welcome as to what to do with it if so. It's not something I've used before so I'm a little confused.

Your hamster may sand bath in it - or use it as a loo - either way it will be something new for him to nosey at
Go for it!

My little hammy has a sand bath with chinchilla sand, whenever I clean out the cage and put fresh sand in it's the first thing he goes for and has a roll around! I think that smaller hamsters like robos etc like it more than syrians but I'm sure they wouldn't complain!

Well I changed his bedding and there was a great deal of disinterest in the sand I put it in his pee corner. His food is at the other end of the cage.

At the moment he's more interested in sorting his bed out since I made SUCH a mess of it by cleaning it out. Now he's gotta make it all back up again
