dogs in towns

i got a question for u guys. Do any of u take ur dogs into town? as in the main town. if u do, is it worth the hassle? i dont mean with quiet dogs, i mean hyper puppies! I really wanna take indie into town this afternoon since its such a nice day, but i kno it will be busy and am worried it might be more hassle than its worth cos she wont settle if we wanna sit in an outside cafe for a drink for example

i think it would be worth the hassle to get her the socialisation in that situation. and the more of it the better for her.cody is the same hyper staffy pup but i try and socialize him in as many different enviroments as poss .

yeh that was what i was thinking, id like her to get used to these situations cos being my companion id like to be able to take her with me to places more, especially now the weather is improving. Dont think bf will be impressed with the idea tho, lol.

I quite often take Bruno out with me - we went into Edinburgh city centre last year during the summer and sat at an outside cafe - he loved it as people kept giving him half their lunch - so apart from coming home enormous it was very successful !!

its worth a shot - at least you will know whether she likes it or not !!

I think you just need to go out with the right mindset, which you seem to have. Know that she may get overly excited, know that she may make a racket, etc. Just go with it...she's only a puppy and learning.

I used to take my dogs into town to socialise them - but had to stop because they got too frightened by people bumping into them with bags and they even got their tails run over by buggies. But I have noticed that more and more people are taking their dogs into the town - so maybe I will give it a try again.

As puppies I always use to take my lot in to town just to get them use to crowds. I wouldn't do it now with Harvey as he stops at every object to **** his leg and would he would proberbally get me in loads of trouble

i often walk mine though the local town (but mt town might be smaller then yours) and there fine, as mine are well behaved i try to take them when it is bussy so ppl can see what a nice breed they are. i have had a few ppl have a go and other pull there kids away from me and a lot of other dog walkes cross the road but other than that its fine lol. if ppl want to pat them then i stop and they all sit. and more and more are doing this now as they know they are good

I try to see things wherever possible through my dogs eyes, I am reasonably sure that they would not go walking in town by themselves, if they could choose they would rather be in the woods and fields, I don't think given the choice they would choose to encounter the amount of strangers in a town.
