I agree bella,
jess i know you dont want to be away from your baby but its a long flight (i done it in april) and the dogs can get very frustrated and frightened.
and then because you are coming from usa your baby would need to be quarentined until health checked and stuff, its not very nice thing for a dog to go through hun.
have a good think about it, it might be much kinder to leave riley here until you get back

I thought this could be done at the airport - do they still have to be sent to Quarantine kennels even if they are on the Pet Travel/Passport scheme?

Heres a link to Defra giving the routes & carriers from non EU countries that pets are allowed to enter UK under pet passport scheme without quarantine
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quar...s_longhaul.htm

One below is for EU countries, also without quarantine
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quar...tes_europe.htm

And below is all kinds of info also from Defra
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/index.htm

ps pretty sure dogs aren`t allowed, nor shouldn`t be sedated before travelling

What ever you decide to do Jessica, good luck. Make sure that Riley has all his relevant jabs, including heartworm and rabies shots.
