What's wrong with my laptop?

The last few days my laptop has been playing up.

For some reason it won't bring any menu up if i right-click, it just brings up a shadow of the menu.

It also won't allow me to click on any drop-down menu's on the internet.

I thought it might be internet related but the right-click thing still happens if no internet window is open.

It's driving me up the wall. Any ideas?

Let us know what OS & browser you're using and someone might be able to Google some sort of solution. My best guess is you're running Windows and it's either suffering from some sort of malware infection or plain old bit rot. How long since your last fresh OS install?

If you are running either windows XP or Windows Vista I would suggest the following:

If you can get into your control panel go to 'system restore'. Try to remember when your machine worked normally - and choose a restore date prior to that and restore your system to a date before that.

If you cannot get on to your system restore from the normal control panel setting try going into your 'safe mode' settings. you get to this by usually pressing F8 when booting up your machine - or whenever your machine tells you - and then do the system restor procedure from there.

hope that helps
