interesting to read the comments, as it states that what in actual fact happened was 2 dogs got loose and the owner came out with the other two onleads etc to catch the others.

Not sure exactly what happened - but 2 dogs does not make a "pack" sounds like pretty flamboyant reporting by the media again !!!

winds me up this was an accident and look at all the fuss. Yet a fella round here allowed 3 dogs to kill serveral cats all over the area and nothing was done. one is an accident the other on purpose. yet the normal responisble owner gets the flack

Eek, Akitas

It still always amazes me that dogs attack other small dogs/puppies as prey They must have been trained to do this?

Dog walkers were diverted away from the temporary pound, via the tennis courts, to ensure their was no chance the caged dogs could become agitated.
The reporter used bad grammar. Sorry - really gets my OCD going!!

You can't really tell what happened from that write up. It's likely that the other dogs got in the way when the bigger dogs were going at the cat. When dogs get the hunting zone anything that wades in after will get caught in the cross fire. Many dogs will see cats as prey. It really gets me that they've written a dog like that can't tell the difference between a cat and a child!! My dog is a hunter so I choose to muzzle, but he knows the difference between prey (rabbits normally) and a small dog and definately a child!

not necessarily prey..some dogs are just dog aggressive, regardless of size/age.

I have been threatened with violence when my old GSD trotted over to sniff a pup. The owner construed this as an attack. So I tend to take reports of attacks in parks with a pinch of salt.
