How long are the stiches left in when a bitch has been speyed?

Thats what I thought. My pal says his vet is taking them out after 4. I said the vet would be just checking she was ok. I think he just got it wrong. It's the 1st time he's had a rescue thats not already been done.

of course some bitches are sewn up with dissolvable stitches so none have to be taken out.

My bitch had internal disolvable stiches. The vet checked her at four days but the stiches did not have to be taken out.
