..Is this KJ Fraser an eye specialist, or a normal vet..as Pidge said he was a eye specialist..maybe this is why she did not get the paper work if the test was not done be a specialist... all a little confusing...

Chaz, hopefully you can clear that bit up, as he has been your families vet for many yrs.

All I know is that we were being referrer by our vet in Witney to an eye specialist in Abingdon.

The vet nurse was the one I spoke to.

He has a great reputation from what I've heard, but is clearly abit crap with the paperwork, as I saw when I was in there.

I'm going to mention some things about Mr Fraser, as I don't think that its fair that everyone is only hearing bad things about him, I have known him and he has been my family vet since I was born basically, and he is not the sort of person to rip people off and do things unnecassairly, and as he is a busy vet I will say some things on his behalf.

KJ Fraser is not a eye specialist, but he is a training vets, in the way that he takes people that have just come from uni and gives them training there, here is a link to a frasers eye specialist, but its not for animals and the last time I checked Canada was not in Oxfordshire, but maybe I'm wrong?

http://frasereyecarecenter.com/

But KJ Fraser is a great vet, who knows how to handle animals with ease, if any of you ever met my old dog Jobé who was a mentally unbalanced GSD from bad breeding, and saw how he was able to be held and examinied with ease by this man you would understand.

He may have a broad Scottish accent that some may find hard to understand, but he is a very knowledgable vet in what he says and does.

Frasers is also very strict with his staff, and has people in the vets round the clock for out of hours emergencies, and basic care for the animals staying there, and the receptionists are taught enough so that they can comfort owners when all the vets are busy until a vet is ready to take the call and give advice over the phone to the owners.

Anyway thats all I'm going to say about the vets today, as I respect this guy and would trust him or any of his trainees with my life, let alone my pets, which I have done many times,

and thanks for reading

What vet was that in Witney? Did you also get Woody from around witney as I know a breeder there called Donnanview, is that his kennel name? He has always been good with the paperwork from when we have been there and when others have to.

But Pidge, isn`t that the same KJ Fraser you had the emergency appointment with about Woody's eyes.. and he diagnosed his condition.

This is all to confusing.. you said the appointment was made with an eye specialist..and his name was KJ Fraser at the same address as Chaz`s vet.

Maybe thats why no paper work never came

Fair play Chaz. He wasn't my cup of tea in terms of the appearance of the place and equipment he used (hard plastic muzzles). He is also very ''old skool'' in terms of his handling, but to each their own.

Tremain. We now use Cogges. No, his kennel name is Hesketh and unfortunately whilst KC registered they did not health check (hence the MRD).

Jackbox, it is the same person. I'm confused too but can do no more until I speak with him on Thursday.

It's a joke. On Weds I was told by my vet that she could not see Woody's retina at all and suspected PRA. We spent that night feeling very sad and worried as it's usually total blindness in 6 months! She told me she wanted to refer me to a specialist and booked me in to KJ Fraser.

I saw him the next day. He examined Woody, said he had mild MRD and that we needn't worry unless we were planning on breeding from him (clearly not as he's been neutered). I paid £95 for about 20 minutes and a lot of patronising and not listening to me (he was a lovely man and clearly very good at what he does but he kept talking to friend not to me and refused to listen to me about Woody's fear aggression until Woody was backed into a corner bearing and growling). It just wasn't a nice experience for all concerned so I'll be livid if I find out he's not even a specialist!!

I really need to know what I'm telling him he should have done for us if anyone can help? Actually, I could search for it in the first thread. No worries.

My Honey has had to be muzzled by one of the trainiee people when she had a ear problem, and they used a adjustable leather muzzle but she has been the only dog to really try to bite the vet as she was in pain, the others have been ok.

He wouldn't listen to me when I told him Woody was showing some signs of fear aggression and food guarding and that he can be snappy with vets poking and prodding as he gets frightened. He pooh pooh'd it and told me to stick my bum in the corner of the room and put Woody in between my legs. Within seconds of him coming towards Woody like this Woody was bearing and growling.

He then agreed to do it my way!!!

Was not impressed.
