I am looking for a disabled or old dog who might need a wheelchair! (Leicester)

Hi, I am a product design student who studying in the De Montfort University, Leicester

My name is Weison Huang.

My major project is design a dog wheelchair.

Now I am seeking for a old dog(legs weakness) or a disabled dog as a model to help my project.

Please contact me if you and your dog live around the Midlands.

When my product completed I will give it to the owner as free!(But this is a long research, the final work will come out approximately mid or later of next year)

All you need to do is if they live in the Leicester or close to, allow me to visit their dog regularly(about once couple of weeks), I will always bring gift for the dog.
And forgive that I am Asian so I cannot speak English very well.

Sorry to disturb you here, but I don't know where else I can find a help.
Please contact me by email if you are happy to help a student: p13129694@myemail.dmu.ac.uk

Best Regards,

Weison

I hope you find someone prepared to let you use their dog to help with your study.

Have you thought of making enquiries at the local vets in your area? They would know of people who have dogs with the sort of disability you are dealing with in the project and might be able to ask the owners for you.

Thanks for your advice and encourage!

I already contacted some local vets by emails, but there were no replies.

I guess I need to visit them, wish they could give me contact of the pet owners.

It would be best to post your university email, just to show you are an actual student of the Uni you mention.

You might also want to contact Rescues in your area, as they may have dogs who might benefit from such a wheelchair.

Good luck.

Yes good idea from AZZ there - rescues might be more willing to 'go along' with the idea than private owners.

After all, basically, you are expecting people to invite a total stranger into their home - and not many people would be willing to do that.

AZZ - OP does state they are studying at De Montfort University, Leicester

Thanks for your suggestion!
Actually I am a student from Taiwan and now studying in the UK.
I have already changed my contact email as my university email.

Unfortunately find a disabled pet in the shelters are more difficult than I think here, I had visited some shelters around the city but got nothing. Keep looking for new methods!

Thank you for your replying!
You pointed out the problem I did not consider about,
seems it is more difficult than I expect to find a disable dog in the UK.

That's why I left a message in this forum

Sorry I don't get it --- is the "AZZ" means my location is not in the UK?
I am truly in the Leicester and already stayed here for few months, that's weird.
