I do feel highly honoured, even though I see plenty of foxes, this one was special

I live on a shooting estate (grouse moor) and so any foxes I see are usually in the distance ... and disappearing quickly! I have been privileged to see a few close up, but never for long enough to get photos.

My thoughts exactly! I hope he never finds a dead body! I always worry I will find a dead body out walking my dog one day as it always seems to be dog walkers that find bodies.

What a lovely experience

Conversely, we (and by that I mean Bunnie) found a recently dead squirrel this morning. Rigor had set in but apart from that he looked perfectly ok - not a mark on him.

Bunnie was all for bringing him home.....

I was grouse counting once and my pointer disturbed a sleeping fox in a rushbed. Not sure who was more surprised, her, me or the fox lol.

I was also doing a wader count and came across what I thought was a dead fox. I got right up to it and was just about to prod it with my stick to make sure, when it opened its eyes, jumped up and ran off lol.

I sometimes walk maddie along a public path that cuts through a golf course, last week there was a fox bold as brass sitting on the 16th fareway sunbathing, oblivious to all the golfers!

i got maddie back on her lead, just in case she chased the fox and i had to chase her al la benny hill style!

What a beautiful animal, it looks like a youngster to me as it is in such good health - no sign of mange on the coat. Vixens have a white tip to their tail, so it could be an adult vixen, but whatever, he/she is stunning. We do have quite a few foxes round here but all too frequently they have mange. I came face to face with one a few years ago - rather his back to my face - walking Hal up Burrough Hill, and he just hadn't seen us - we were able to watch him for a few brief seconds before he sensed us and shot off.
