Marley, 18 month old Staffie Crossbreed needs home!

Lovely Marli is about 18 months old. A Staffie crossbreed who came into Rescue Remedies in January having been known to us for some time. He has had a typical Staffie's past really and spent part of his life being handed about to all and sundry. A young lady spotted him being walked about by some kids who were trying to give him away to whoever would take him. On questioning the children, they told her they had already passed him on to no less than 7 homes in the last couple of days and each time they bought him back. This lady took him home and kept him for 3 months living with 2 kids - a 7 and 10 year old. They didn't have a garden, but had been promised a house move and longed to offer him that. She didn't have dog experience and she was worried about him if he got barky as they were living in 'no pets allowed accommodation' - she started to take him everywhere with them! She couldn't run off his energy as she had no garden and didn't have the confidence to bring him through into off lead recall. Her neighbours complained about him in her flat so she had to pass him onto rescue. She still communicates with us as her children miss him terribly.

Marli is well behaved. A bit jumpy and can soft mouth on meeting but nothing unusual for a young Staffie. It should be easy to train out of him. He does not hurt, and manages children so well, naturally toning down his energy for the 'little people'. He is a happy and joyful boy who is great with kids and has lived very happily with many of them in his time!

Marli quickly settles after the initial excitement of meeting. His recall is perfect with treats! He is fine with dogs with confidence behind his lead, but hasn't had stability to become fully fluent. He needs someone to give him time to settle. He copes well with being left in kennels and does not create any problems with barking when people are not around; he will need initial work because he may cling initially within a new home situation straight from kennels. Marli is neutered, vax'd and chipped. Wormed and deflea'd...& ready for his forever home!!!

An update on Marli from the kennels:

"Marley is a dog that, to start with plays hard. I will stick my neck out and say that with careful initial handling he would happily live with a playful and younger bitch.

Holly and him would be perfect together if they could find a home with each other and I am so confident with these two that I am half tempted to allow them to share a double kennel during the day and eventually at night as they now wait for each other to come out to play.

Here are some pics of the happy couple...

STOP PRESS ... LATEST:

Marley and Holly are now living in sin. ops:

It wasn't the plan today. They just shared a kennel during the day and after their evening exercise they went into their seperate kennels. However, these two were sharing a giant bed when they were let out for their run and when I walked past Marley afterwards he looked very sheepish and sad, so we did a quick change of plan and when we left tonight they were curled up together like Ying and Yang on a big duvet".

An updated ad for Marli ...

Marli, Staffie (DOB 10/07) needs home!

History: Usual Staffie history - many homes! Last 2 homes with very young children proved brilliant.

Salient points: Very good dog skills. Proven with children. Wonderful people skills.

Advert: Lovely Marli is 20 months. A Staffie who came into Rescue Remedies in January. He has had a typical Staffie's past really being handed about to all and sundry. A young lady spotted him being walked by some children who were trying to give him away. On questioning the children, they told her they had already passed him on to no less than 7 homes in the last couple of days and each time they bought him back. This lady took him home and kept him for 3 months living with 7 and 10 year olds. They had been promised a house move. As a first time dog owner and no permission to keep a dog, she was worried about him if he got barky - she started to take him everywhere! She couldn't run off his energy as she had no garden and didn't have the confidence to bring him through into off lead recall. Her neighbours complained she had a dog so she had to pass him onto rescue. She still communicates with us as her children miss him terribly.

Marli is well behaved. A bit jumpy and can soft mouth on meeting, but just saying 'hello', nothing unusual for a young Staffie. It should be easy to train out of him. He manages children so well, naturally toning down his energy for the 'little people'. He is a happy and joyful boy who is great with kids and has lived very happily with many of them in his time! Currently in kennels in near Croydon, Surrey.

Marli quickly settles after the initial excitement of meeting. His recall is perfect with treats! He is fine with dogs with confidence behind his lead and has lived successfully with another dog. Excellent at training classes ... the star! He needs time to settle. He copes well with being left in kennels and does not bark when people are not around. He will need work initially because he may cling to start with in a new home environment. Not for cats or small furries. Marli is neutered, vax'd and chipped. Wormed and deflea'd ... & ready for his forever home!!!

"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Here is an update on Marli by Lynne:

Marli is such a wonderful dog. Just chance he hasn't found his home yet. Did I say chance or cats. Passed the cattery on our way out on our walk ... oh yes Marli knows where the cats reside. Needs to learn to chill out when passing cats..someone has fired him up in his youth.

Haven't walked with marli for such a long time, had forgotten how really, really lovely he is.

Chilled Marli ...
