I think its barbaric, mutilating a dog for the sake of appearance fills me with anger and sadness at the state of the human race.

I don't like it either. People can make a choice to go under the knife in the name of vanity - dogs can't and they don't understand why it's happening either.

I don't like to see cropped ears at all, they crop Minis in the USA and I think it gives the dogs a hard expression.

It is of course impossible to judge if a dog has the correct ear carriage when the ears are cropped, I believe some of the cropped American imports when used at stud were responsible for producing flying ears.

That's what happens when you don't allow things to develop naturally!

Not only do i not like Cropping , but i also dont like, glue in ears,1ps in ear tips, Ears tied up with cotton (things ive seen in BCs ASDs RCs & Shelties), Ears in Bandages & splints,(seen in GSD) etc etc etc. If you want "good "ears, BREED for Good ears, dont pretend your lines have good ears by all manner of cheating when they are pups!

Excellent post, my view entirely, allow puppies to develop naturally then you wont make for big problems later on!

Using BCs as a example Tipped ears are the most desirable in the Show ring, when achieved naturally they look fab, when achieved artifically they can look false, as often the ears arent like that for a reason, wrong shape, too big/too small not on at the right angle the list goes on. Personally what i LOVE about BCS are their wonderfully expressive ears, why anyone would want to enforce a unnatural posture for their own particular dog is beyond me

The many expressions of Mav

Thoughtfull ears

Playful & excited ears

Im chilling ears

Devastingly Handsome posing ears

Everyday ears
