Some people were saying he could have gone to the South of Ireland, where the law doesn't exist concerning bull type dogs.

The new law when it comes into effect will allow the dog to be housed at its own address until the matter is sorted, but I know this is too late for Lennox and others.

What was Lennox accused of in the first place?
Looking 'pit bull' type I think

So, if the address the dog was kept at had been correct in the first instance, none of this drawn out appeal would have been possible? And the owners based their chances of success on a technality and not on the actual 'prosecution' as such?

If this dog really has been suffering as has been suggested by some (poor condition, injuries, bleeding paws etc) for 2 yrs while the owners tried to 'get off on a technicality' rather than having concrete grounds to appeal - well I do not admire their tenacity.

Most dog lovers would rather take the dreadful decision to have their dog PTS rather than let it suffer for a much shorter period than two years if it was ill. And they would be supported and admired for 'doing the right thing for the dog' and not prolonging the dog's suffering by putting their own feelings first. The kindest decision and all that.
No, they initially appealed on the original ruling, the original decision took ages to come to, and then the appeal kept getting delayed, and then after the judge ruled for Lennox to be euthanised they discovered the technicality to tried another attempt on that. Several behaviourists put forward their views that Lennox wasn't a danger but the judge decided to use the assessment from an ex-police dog handler with no behavioural qualifications.
Real sad story for everyone involved but I feel it was a bit of a point to be proved from the council/court's side

Statement released by Lennox's family

Statement By Lennox’s Family
By Save Lennox On June 13, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Wednesday 13th June 2012

We would like to thank everyone for the countless messages that we have received in the last 24 hours during what is a very difficult time for our family and for the support we have had from so many since Lennox was seized in 2010. The past two years have been extremely distressing for many reasons and we appreciate that this has been a very emotive case for dog lovers worldwide who have spoken out against the failings of Breed Specific Legislation. We take some comfort in the knowledge that we are not the only ones to be devastated by the recent ruling. We are in talks with our legal team and will make another statement in due course.

Thank you

Just put the poor dog out of his misery, if they appeal again then they are doing it for themselves and not Lennox. Enough is enough.

agree. As much as he is a much loved pet, they making him go through another god knows how long in a kennel is cruel especially when the outcome is unlikely to change.

I thought that the most recent appeal was the last attempt that could be made and that was because of technicalities of the case. The comment that they are in talks with their legal team suggests otherwise though?

They can take it to the high court in London for appeal, it could also go as far as the European courts. This could take a long time and if they have ever asked themselves when to draw the line, the time has arrived.

Crikey, the length of time that would take doesn't bear thinking about.
