Working Bloodhounds

These photos were taken a couple of years ago up here in the Lammermuirs of the Berwickshire Hunt and their working bloodhounds - which were just gorgeous.

Fabulous pictures, thanks for showing them. I honestly didn't realize they were used for hunting now. I only associate bloodhounds with searching for people. Some lovely dogs there.

Beautiful animals. There was a pack here on the Isle of Man, I think it recently disbanded but it was active for many years. There is another pack in Kent or East Sussex I think- they were often on the the lookout for puppy walkers!

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to say what great pics they were.

I wonder why Bloodhounds aren't used much anymore?

Thanks. As you can tell they are photos of photos but came out quite well.

No idea why bloodhounds aren't used much, will google when I have a mo and try to find out!

Ripsnorterthe2nd i'm glad you resurrected this thread, what gorgeous pics, I wish I was there!

I saw the piece on bloodhounds on Countryfile a few weeks back, once I get a horse again I would LOVE to hunt with them, people hunting. I hope there's a few hunts still around (by the time I get a horse again)!

I saw the ones on "Countryfile" too and thought it was fascinating. There was also a programme on ages ago called "The Beardie and the Bloodhound" where they took a dog of each of these breeds that was in rescue and put them with a trainer to get them to do their original "job". It was very interesting and the Bloodhound ended up getting a "job" with the police in USA as a sniffer dog.
