Despite ths fact she had trained hers, who was horrific and had been used as a coursing dog, to stay with her.
Thats a shame that your friend got turned down I'm sure that she would of given another Saluki a terrific home.

Thing is you are still very dismissive of my description of Tango Dawn. Given you have never met her or seen her reactions when out, which all point towards her having been punished for chasing...how can you be so adamant you are right?

I dont care what you "think" you know, you DONT know for sure, at all do you? I never said she wasnt punished for chasing, but you "know" she had an e-collar used on her and you dont know that at all, that what annoys me. All the time we have the "poor rescue" dog ploy by people who "know" their dog was abused, they know nothing except what they were told!

Interesting, it really may be the individual dog, as Pat and I have had a few walks with a couple who has 4 saluuki's 3 bitches and a male, all walk with ours without leads and they have no probs with recall, the youngest is 4 and was rescued at 12 months the other three 5 plus.
We also walk over Babbs Mills very often with an entire male Akita and his owner, another breed that they say needs on lead walking......although his owner admitts to spending many hours when he was a pup socialising him, he's 6, so I figure it depends on the individual dogs

I kind of get what you mean and I know that I can't prove what state Diesel was in when I went to see him, and I don't know 100% what he went through at the different places, but I saw what the garden was like, and I saw his behaviour, and how it got worse when the whippet was brought out, and I've seen how he reacts to different things.

I am wondering why Tango upsets you so much Dawn.
The fact is she has been punished for chasing and the hair on her neck, as well as the skin would indicate she had a shock collar used on her....as would her reactions. She had shut down.
You can get as cross as you like Dawn but what purpose do I have in playing the 'poor rescue dog' for goodness sake? What would the point in that be? To justify her onlead walks? I don't need to justify them to anyone. I do need to keep her and the dogs around her safe though.
I said I was 95% sure she had a shock collar used on her because of her coat/skin and reactions. How can YOU be so sure she didn't Dawn given you have never even met her? I also said a lot about FCR and eating theor own faeces, but then you also chose to misinterpret that and head off and phone a friend huh?
Not quite sure how I have offended you Dawn but there you go c'est la vie.

I get what your saying, we know for definate the agony Reah went through for two weeks with broken legs and pelvis, same as we know where her previous owner got her from, a rescue kennels in Lincolnshire, who told me they had her with a lot of other dogs rescued from a puppyfarm, we managed to trace her that far.....

however her fear of laybys and dark nights....the only thing we think is she had been dumped or abused involving laybys and dark....but we will never know that for sure will we

I wouldnt say she had or hadnt, neither should you, because you dont know! You were very offended by people who said it was cruel to confine her to a lead, now you have the hump because somebody questions what you actually have no knowledge of at all, you "assume."

For your info, my friend and I speak regularly, thats what friends do, converse.

You havent offended me, but your thinking is strange for one I thought was very experienced, shouldnt "think" though should I? You continue with Tango, keep her on a lead, think to yourself eating crap is a breed thing when it isnt, know she has had an ecollar used on her when you dont, never going to bother me is it?

I agree that some things we can know. With one of my Dobes, I KNEW he had fireworks thrown at him, I saw it. I know he was starved, I picked him up off the floor when he was barely able to stand. I know he was stoned by kids, Steve saw them. There was a LOT of other things though after I got him that I think" I know where they came from, but Id never say for sure because I dont know.
