Ha! I'm not a lazy sod after all...

I got a phone call today and my haemoglobin level has dropped again.

At 9, it's not that low in comparison to what it has been in the past (I was still teaching dance with a HB of 6 a few years ago!) but it's still low enough to make me feel unwell.

Made me feel a bit better because recently the duvet days have become more frequent and I was beating myself up about it - now I know it's medical, it's not so bad!

the red blood cell content or something...

a low haemoglobin level means you become anaemic and is the cause of low energy levels, but I've been anaemic a long time!

A normal HB level should be between 12 and 16. Mine tends to stay around 10 but has gone down to 9 so just need to up the iron tablets (and by up them, I mean actually take the ones I'm supposed to!)

yep - bajaluna - that's pretty much it. I bleed internally but haven't been lately so we're unsure where it's come from! I've had no stomach bleeding which is what they check for on the endoscopies and I would have known if it had been my bowel (I have a stoma) or menstrual (I'm not supposed to have periods!)

Thanks ZB I'm sure it'll go up in no time when I start taking the meds I'm supposed to!

Thanks hun

Thanks Kel...

Amazingly, I feel worse now with a HB of 9 than I did when they first picked up on my anaemia 6 years ago and my HB was 6!

It was probably because I was so active back then so kept myself going anyway whereas now, I'm not so active and have been poorly so it's got to me a bit more.

Oh well - at least I know I'm not just lazy!
