my dogs growling at me!?!

I have a 2year old ridgeback male and a 5month old bitch. He has recently started to growl at me if i go near to him or try to stoke him. His growls do seem to be quite aggressive and i do think he would bite if i pushed him. He only seems to do this in the house too not outside.

Could this behaviour be being caused by our female ridgeback?

Any suggestions or advice would be a big help! really worried because he has never done this before!

Is he neutered? Have you taken him to the vets, maybe he's in pain?

Hi - it would help if we knew a bit more - like...
Have you had him since a pup?
What training do you do with him?
How long has the bitch been there?
Is he neutered?

In the meantime - a growl is a warning. Personally I`d take heed of it! My latest dog growls occasionally at us. It is through fear because he was previously abused and occasionally he panics or something triggers a memory. So we leave him alone till he comes to us. However, it`s porbably a different cause with your dog, so more info would be helpful

No hes not neutered. There is no symptoms to explain it being pain, he walks, runs and plays like normal.

Is it only you he is growling at?

Has anything happened recently that would make him wary of you?

Have you done any training in the house? Like - will he go to his place when asked? Will he leave your lunch alone if told? Will he lie quietly and back off when told?
Since it only happens indoors, I`d be looking at his behaviour there, I think. If you can work out when the growls happen it would help.

Yes, if i tell him to go somewhere, he goes there. Sometimes he can be a bit stubburn and i have to say it firmer, but he will go.

The puppy also jumps and bites/snaps in general wants to play with him when he doesnt want to play and he gets extremely narked over this.

I wonder if he thinks when were going towards him he thinks were going to bite and snap at him?
