Help me exhaust my dog - without the walk!

So poor Woody missed his afternoon walk today because of my foot.

I have played with him, done some tricks and training but he's still HYPER!!

I have a whole day on my own with him tomorrow. Neil said he'll get up even earlier than 6am to take him for a longer walk and run but what else can I do to keep the little chap occupied?

Tomorrow is going to be a very, long, day..........

How about hiding very small treats around the room and getting him to search for them, or the garden if weather OK. Tracking I find exhausts dogs a lot quicker than physical exercise.

Becky
A lot of people say that Becky and I try it all the time but I've never noticed it makes a slight bit of difference to him, almost gears him up.

We also do ''which one'' with treats hidden in cup or hand and he has to paw. He loves it but it does do enough for him.

I've got the front door open at the moment and he's just lying there watching everyone go by, that seems to be the thing that works most but it's not very practicle as everyone can see into my living room!!!

I play catching a ball in the garen which really wears Tilly out, I use 3 balls (quite a big garden) so she has to tear **** round as soon as she catches one I get her to drop & throw in other direction. 5 - 10 mins & she is pooped.
She's rubbish at tracking unless I help!!

Can you look at Becky's trick trianing thread and see if you can teach Woody the sequence of tricks?

I'm working hard at "touch" with my two.... two short planks they are

Or, can you give him something to rag around and rip up in the garden... so it doesn't matter how much mess he makes?

Our garden isn't really a ''play'' garden. It's cobbled and too small. We do have a park that I could just about hobble to though. I'll make the effort, for him. Trouble is, even 10 mins standing puts it back to square one.

Can you not just ask someone to take him out in the afternoons while you recover? friends, family, neighbours that like walking, etc?

Possibly, but want to see how it goes. There is only one person who wont charge but I do hate to ask.
