Heckbarley Hike with Marius

I only discovered this place last week and I've lived in this area all my life! My Sister introduced me to it & I fell in love with it straight away. It's particularly fab as you can allow dogs off-lead for quite some time before there are sheep, so they can have a good gallop around

It's near Ennerdale village so the views are wonderful....

Just at the bottom of the hill before Heckbarley itself

The start of the walk, there's space to park cars at the front of this (no charge, yipee )

For Gawd's sake, come on woman!!

Puffing Billy

I love the way the light falls on these trees

View ain't bad!

The road less travelled

King Of The Hill

This is the route heading back full-circle towards the car-park. They call this area Kinniside Common. Often the local riding centre lets their horses have free roam on this land, so dogs must be on-lead

Rather him than me cycling up there!!

This reminded me of the Stone Circle at Castlerigg, I got quite a surprise when I came across it. I wonder what it represents?

D'ya think he enjoyed that? Smiley-weiler strikes again

Heading back to the car-park now, that's our blue car on the left after the the gate. It is very near a well-known riding stables called Bradleys which do fab treks over the fells. I used to spend all my pocket money going as often as possible when I was a kid! I don't get commission sadly!!

Breed-discrimination is rife in the Lake District you know - what puzzles me is how did they know he was coming?
