It's not unusual for some people to dress up their dogs in attention-grabbing coats and even miniature tutus.

But any prized pup that wears an authentic spacesuit is very likely to be the best dressed canine at any dog show.

Dog lovers will get the change to buy just the outfit, because a genuine 1950s spacesuit will be up for auction in Berlin on September 13 - but they'll need to be a dedicated follow of doggy fashion, as it is expected to fetch around €8,000 (£6,317).

My dog has declined the offer of me purchasing it for her!

The Drama of Rescuing Sprig, the Dog Plucked Off the Steep Devon Cliff

Sprig, a nine year old springer spaniel has been missing for over one week since August 22 when he disappeared during one of the many walks he and his owners, Mr & Mrs Sanders did on Devon Point. The couple mentioned that Sprig never get lost on each of their coast walks and that losing him on that day was not so ordinary. The couple said it’s very off Sprig’s character to wander off the cliff. The couple tried to locate Sprig by reporting him missing and looking around the place but to no avail. The couple was on the thought that Sprig wandered of and was stolen. They are about to lose hope when the news of his rescue came.
Minehead’s volunteer RNLI crew were on a routine boat patrol training exercise last Sunday, August 31, 2014 near Foreland Point, Devon UK when they noticed what they thought was a sheep trapped on the cliff. They went as close as possible where the animal was about 30 feet above the water. RNLI crew Helmsman Andrew Escott jumped ashore and climb the rocky ledge and plucked the soggy dog off the cliff. The dog who seem to be delighted to see the rescuer frantically licked the water off the crew’s dry clothes. They suspected the dog survived his ordeal of without food and water by licking moisture unto the rocks and moss. This proves that dog’s survival nature. It is noteworthy that Sprig although a bit leaner than the last time his owners saw him was generally unharmed and well.

Sprig made the news here as well...

http://www.itv.com/news/west/2014-09...rly-1000-feet/

when he apparently fell nearly 1,000 feet.

A miracle dog has survived falling nearly 1,000ft off one of Britain's tallest cliffs - before spending more than a week clinging to a rocky ledge.

Rescuers say Sprig, a nine-year-old springer spaniel, survived days without food and water - by licking moisture of rocks and moss.

Sprig vanished while his owners Mark and Susie Sanderson, both 50, admired the view from Foreland Point in north Devon. The distraught couple organised search parties and put up posters as they hunted their missing pet.

But he was finally located eight days later by a passing lifeboat crew who went to the help a stranded sheep and spotted Sprig marooned on a tiny outcrop 30ft from the bottom of the towering 991ft headland.

The volunteer crew of Minehead's Atlantic 85 class boat climbed up to find the lucky pooch tired, hungry but completely unharmed. He was lowered on to their ship and taken to safety before RNLI officials put out an appeal on 'another site' for his owners, who responded within hours of Sunday's rescue.
How resilient, and how happy that he was found safe and well!

Ruff work - dogs with jobs.

Dogs are man’s best friend and, sometimes, his most faithful colleague. From dogs who jump out of planes with terrorist-fighting forces to rescue pups who travel through snow and water to save lives, take a look at some of the ways our four-legged friends contribute to society on the job.

OK so Hallie might not know what she is doing, but her paintings raise money for charity so she deserved her place in the pictures.

Being chased by a giant mutant spider is enough to send most people into a fit or terror.

So it's not surprising that this pooch caused quite a stir when she was let loose disguised as a terrifying eight-legged beast.

Chica the DogSpider is the work of Polish prankster Sylwester Wardega, who dressed up his pooch in the fur-covered costume before releasing her on an unsuspection public.
Full articles, photographs and video here... better not watch if you scare easily though!

I feel sorry for the people who were really frightened, but is she not cute?

Dogs get back-to-school blues too!

When summer is up and it's time to go back to school, children offer from a bout of 'back to school blues' as they begrudgingly return to class.

But a researcher has clained that the effect isn't limited to people; dogs also get upset when their young owners leave.

The research was compiled by Dr Nick Dodman of Tufts University's Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts.

He found that many of the 80 million dogs in the US had separation anxiety.

This led them to bark, howl or whine when their owners were gone.

In more extreme cases the departure of a young owner to school at the start of school can lead to the dogs scratching doors, damaging blinds or tearing curtains in their anxiety.
