midamerica do this

Victor Select Senior / Healthy Weight
Calorie Content (calculated):ME 3511 kcal/kg;360 kcal/cup

v's his current one which is 429 cals a cup so on his current ration you save 240kcals a day

not a big diff but a diff nonetheless maybe worth a try if hes complaining his tummy thinks his throats been cut!

did the chicken have the skin on? skinning it would be a good idea going forwards if not

i know quite a few dogs who get meat for breakfast and just the carcass of the chicken for tea so even though it was small (and whole) that would be a feast for say my boy who is doing a minimum of 1 hour of mad cross country running each day

puppy parenting is such a minefield

am intrigued now i use a cup as a scoop for my boys food he gets 1 nearly full scoop for breakfast and a full scoop for tea will need to weigh it see how much hes actually getting and see how this compares (im getting differing results on cup to gram conversions )

the feeding chart on his food is... (he is 40kg)

40kg+ 300 - 500g

and guide is the 'target' or 'maintenance' weight

using hazlenuts as a 'volume' reference = nigredo is having c. 472gms of food per day at present (i think his 86 pounds = 40kg ish?)

If thats correct then given he is on a higher fat content food then it needs to be dropped pretty drastically id guess

Thank you so much, you have been a great help to me. He is about 40 kg. Yes, his chicken had the skin, can easily be removed. It is a minefield, but we'll manage. For now he is "fat and happy" so I think we've got some wiggle room

My cup (mug) holds 200gms. So today for example he was given 125gms for breakfast and 200gms for dinner with some tuna on top.

His granny gives him a bit of lunch sometimes maybe a slice of toast or a bit of mince but 'just a wee bit' allegedly! She used to deny it until he threw up rice one day and we hadn't fed him rice

It's great that he's sound again. And I'm sure he will regain his boyish figure soon enough
