Hello from Turkey

Hi

I've just registered today. I stumbled across this site whilst looking for a remedy for my dog who was stung by a wasp.

I'm English, and have lived in Turkey for 10 years. When I was able to afford it I have taken in a number of street dogs and cats during this time, had them neutured, vaccinated, and found them homes. I have one bitch called Beki. I rescued her when she was just 2 weeks old and a vet thought she wouldn't survive. She is now nearly 5 years old. She's a mixed breed but her size and coat are similar to that of a golden retriever. She has a wonderful temperament and I love her to bits.

I look forward to exploring this site and finding out a bit more about all you dog-lovers!

Welcome to Dogsey Ayak!

I went on holiday to Turkey a couple of years ago (Gocek) and met a lovely lady called Ayfur who was from Izmir.

Gorgeous country, I will go back one day soon.

Well done on all the hard work you are doing with the street dogs (from a fellow rescuer and fosterer )

Welcome to Dogsey Ayak

I too am a regular visitor to Turkey (Marmaris) - every year! Love it!

Really nice to hear you have rescued some dogs and cats out there as there are quiet a few strays aren't there

When I was over your end last there was one dog that would come wondering round to our hotel looking for food - I always saved some of my breakfast and tea for him - the regulars thought I was mad

Hope you enjoy the site

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Turkey certainly does have a big problem with stray dogs and cats. It's impossible to help them all. Unfortunately my finances don't allow me to rescue dogs for neutering and vaccinating these days. Im afraid I am now limited to feeding as many strays as I am able to...but every little helps. Thankfully, dog rescue centres are springing up throughout the country, some of which have gained charitable status, and they operate a programme of neutering, which will certainly help in the long term.

I'm pleased to see that some of you have enjoyed your visits to Turkey..it's a wonderful country!

ETA; Sarah...I met my husband in Gocek...lovely place!

I stayed at the Forest Gate Hotel. It was very peaceful and the people were so lovely.

Is your husband Turkish?
