I think take him to a dog behaviorist and keep him on his lead and away from other dogs untill he is o.k with other dogs. Although it is not your fault...I would be pi**d off if he attacked my puppy, probly how you felt when another dog attacked your ben unprovocked when he was a puppy.
But it is not that difficult for professinals to sort out problems like this!
So he could be running around playing with other dog soon with any luck!

Totally agree, I was p*ssed off, and can understand why others would be too , as a rule Ben is walked on lead and wherever possible kept away from other dogs, last night was a stupid accident and could more than likely have been prevented BUT it has happened now, and would love to get to a point where such things and events are manageable. Have looked for behaviouists in the area before on http://www.apbc.org.uk and have difficulty finding one that is near me and or anyone can reccommend and following on from my experience with reccommended certified trainers I really need someone who is highly regarded by others who are involved with dogs

Where are you based? The dog training class i go to has a few dogs in it that are there purely to sit and be with other dogs as they can be aggressive. They do do the training if they feel like they can but if not they are allowed to sit on the seats and just stay there.

How irresponsible of the trainers to ask you to leave because of his behavior. They should have helped you to resolve the issue, not pass the buck to someone else. There are some dog behaviorists that will visit you at your home and work on the issue from there. My friend has a GSD that doesn't work well with other dogs and she has one that visits her home and goes for walks with her. Now her dog is coming on leaps and bounds.

Good luck with the hunt for a resolution and big hugs to help the hunt easier.
