They are going to kill off Wellard....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7475039.stm

The canine actor who plays Wellard in the BBC One's EastEnders is to retire from the show, it has been announced.
Viewers will see Wellard killed off later this year. The Belgium shepherd, a bitch called Kyte, has featured in the soap for 14 years. Wellard has, in fact, been played by three different dogs from the same family - Kyte, her mother and grandma.

I did think it was getting very old to still be running round the square.

The BBC can't even get the Breed right Belgium Shepherd, it reads when it should be Belgian Shepherd. and this is a Breed of Dog which has been in East Enders for a good few years and the BBC can't even spell it correctly.

Is a quiet retirement to the Cotswolds a suitable fate for the dog who charged into battle with Russell Crowe?

They can't win either way I dont think.......

If they kill him off, people don't like it (even though he's 14 and it would be a ripe old age anyway)

If they send him off for eternal unknown retirement, people won't like that either, as it would be 'unrealistic' that he's survived so long !

Well if I was Wellard I'd want to be killed off. It's either that or a retirement of hell living with Bianca and Ricki.

Fliggle is right, he can't go to the Cotswolds because Micky doesn't own him, he was swapped for a pineapple ice bucket to Bianca's daughter.

...and has anyone seen Albert, Roxy's boxer recently?

The life of a soap dog is not a happy one, at least Ethel kept her little Willie with her at all times!
