Let me share this phone call with you...

Because I`m still not sure I believe it:

One of my foster dogs is on a Rescue site as:
Yorkie x Shtzu. Mature, friendly etc etc. Ideal companion for active retired person who wants companion for own dog as he doesn`t like being left alone. Needs daily walks, off lead.
Fairly clear, yes?

So last night I got this call - obviously the woman had a message to call me following an enquiry to the Rescue to arrange a meeting.

Caller: You left a message at my Mum`s.
Me: Sorry?
C You left a message about the dog.
M I haven`t left a message. Was it (name of Rescue lady).
C There was a message on the answerphone you left. You`re the fosterwoman.
M OK...You`re interested in rehoming the little dog?
C I want to see him
M OK. When would be good?
C I can do tomorrow
M Sorry, I can`t do Sundays. Monday?
C I`m only in on weekends.
M OK...Was the dog for you or your mum?
C Me of course. I`m running out of credit. Can you call me back.
M Would you like to call me back on my landline?
C This is costing me a fortune. You`ll have to call me back.
M I`m not calling you back, no.
C Well... I want to arrange to see the dog. Can you bring him round.
M No, I`d like to meet you out in a Park so the dogs can be introduced....
C (interrupting) Why can`t you bring him round?
M I don`t have transport. And I want to see if he gets on with your dog.
C Oh, we`ve had little yorkshire terriers before.
M You know he`s a cross, don`t you?
C What?
M He`s a Yorkie cross, he`s...
C (interrupting) Oh, well, I won`t bother then. (puts phone down.

Oh Claire, you harsh lady, what a let down for the poor woman - fancy nearly landing her with a common crossbreed and fancy making the poor woman pay for a phone call when she had no money, after all we all know that dogs live on thin air, never incur training costs, toys, treats, veterinary treatment etc...
