I'm so glad that Jack is feeling better, the fact that he wants to play is a good sign.
The problem with kennel cough, and a lot of these other contagious illnesses is that the signs aren't always there until its too late.
I remember a few years back that I went to visit a friends 2 week old litter of setters, I had washed and changed before I got there, disinfected myself when I arrived only to get home and find one of mine coughing. He was straight to the vet to be diagnosed with KC and it went through most of the others too.
I was mortified and phoned my friend immediately, she was calm about it and said that there was nothing she could do, she would just have to hope and pray that the pups would be ok. As luck would have it they were fine, but I don't know what I would have done if they had been struck down with it and she had lost the litter.
What really bugs me are the people that attend shows or dog training classes or anything that involves socialising with other dogs when their dogs are already showing the signs. Even if they don't know about kennel cough surely they would go to the vets if the dog was coughing and not just assume it was nothing, the vets would then tell them of all the implications of mixing.
Its a shame if thats where Jack did contract it, but the fact that its all over at the moment could mean that he would have caught it anywhere. The only consolation is that, from my experience, once they've had it once, they tend to get a milder form if they are unfortunate enough to catch it again.
Big hugs for Jack xxx
