Hi guys,
Just a quick update. Dean has decided to stop the Metacam as it's not having the required effect. She'll be off it for a couple of weeks to a month and will be taking 50mg Norocarp daily instead.

As well as this, she has an infection between her toes - poor love - so she's on anti-b's for this too.

The most important thing is to get some weight off her. Not easy, but it really is essential.

Wish me luck - we are back at the vets in two weeks, so I have to have made a difference. Her food is being reduced from 5oz twice a day to 3.5oz twice a day on Dean's recommendation. Here's hoping for a skinny shiba!

Poor old darling, and now you've got to starve her too I hope the new meds work better for her, and I hope her new portion sizes will take the weight off her, and I hope she doesn't even notice you've cut her back, poor old girl, I feel so very sorry for them at this age when they're all stiff, I had all this with Cassie, and so early too, unlike all my others, such a shame. All the best with her Vicki.

Does she do hydro therapy at all, that might help to exercise some weight off her while supporting the aching joints and muscles. Unless she's like Dingo and turns into a hairy torpedo and sinks. At least now I know why he hates water.

Give her a big hug from me.

Heidi

Thanks guys - I have to buy low fat biscuits now, as they all get a biscuit before bedtime. I can't leave her out - it would be just too cruel.......

Heidi - with the weight of her, I'd be stunned if she stayed afloat. She looks like a rolled-up sleeping bag (large) with a leg in each corner..... bless
