Not happy.....ceiling in new extension got to be taken down....

I am not a happy bunny this morning. After 7 months of building work which finished in June(ish) we have recently spotted a few small wet patches appearing on the ceiling of the new dining area in the kitchen. We contacted the builder who returned on Friday to have a look. They suspected it was silicon missing in the wet room which sits above where the marks have been appearing and so put new silicon down. He returned today to do a splash around test and since then we have had several small new patches appear. He has said that the next stage will be to cut into the ceiling to inspect what is going on..........

I could really do without this right now.....

we might have a reprieve. He is here now and still thins it might be a sealant problem as he was directly spraying into the corners and has got a more immediate result....fingers crossed. i do have this niggling fear though that this is something that will keep coming back and biting us on our bums!

Shouldn't a wet room be tanked making leakage/seepage impossible ?

How annoying, I hope after all those months of waiting that you don't have to go through having the ceiling taken down.

I've got everything crossed that the builder will get it sorted out for you. xx

It was tanked....but I have a horrible feeling that something is not quite right. It seems to be the silicon now that the plumber has been back to look. He aimed the shower spray right at the corner and the leak showed up almot straight away. he has redone all the edges and so we will see how it goes....again!

we are covered on any works so they will be able to sort it.

Hope he can get it sorted without taking the ceiling down. We had to have our bedroom ceiling removed once, it was a nightmare.

Everything crossed here x
