'Going' away from home

Just back from a lovely walk in the woods.
Going was good, Dinah walked nicely, didn't pull etc.
As we turned to come back it was obvious she needed to poo - but she refuses to go 'away from home', despite me using the magic trigger words (hurry up) which always work at home.
So, all the way home she tended to want to be in front of me, which meant (as we're still learning this walking on lead thing) that I had to stop and wait for her to come back beside me, which meant we took longer to get home, which meant her need was more urgent, etc etc.

Any top tips for reassuring her that the woods is an OK place to do it? (She's happy to pee outside)

I'd have gone back to the woods with her and waited till she was dying to go, and she most probably would have gone then praised her like mad

Thanks eRaze but we had a good 10 minutes on the return bit of the wood-walk before the last 5 minutes up the hill to home. She was keen to leave the woods!

But I get your point and I should have been more patient....however the clouds were very dark and we only just got home before today's monsoon.

rofl eRaze, I'm sure you would do that too wouldn't yer?

Only you'd have to be sat on the top of the mountain, wonder how long you would last

Star would not do anything outside for a while, she waited til she got home again.

I was told it was because she was not confident enough to leave her mark outside her territory, dont know if theres any truth in it.

Yes Carole, that could be it.
I have read that pups have a vague 'fearful period' @ 16 - 21 weeks - that would fit and she has e.g. found the wind and flapping things a bit disconcerting this week.

Sooo, I'll be patient but not wait in the woods for 4 weeks!!!!

Holly was the same.......................she thought that garden was her loo area. When she did her first wee outside there was so much praise from me. Even now she does still like to do her do, in her place in the garden after going for a long walk! Can't win!
