Calling all Hampshire residents - country pubs

I'm looking for a nice country pub for my lunch tomorrow when we go to Southampton car hunting for Dave! I'm only interested in the lunch, so I need to find somewhere nice and wondered if any of you locals down that way can recommend anywhere please?

I would like a nice garden, preferrably with some water around somewhere, nice and quiet no screaming kids, and good food! I don't want much do I! Any recommendations please?

We're travelling on the A27 fromWorthing toSouthampton to anywhere on the way home would be good? Thanks guys!

Oh yes Jen, we're at that age where we like a bit of peace and quiet don't we!

Thanks bens mum I tried the internet, and found a lovely pub with a lake, good food, but it's near Salisbury and I don't really want to go North from Southampton, I'd rather it be heading in the home direction!

Yes Tracy, is she a good cook then, and has she got a nice garden????? I don't want to end up in that shed of hers!!!

That "shed" has probably long gone, due to the giving up smoking

So am I, but it's the lunch I'm after, and I do like a nice country pub, rather than a towny restaurant on a Saturday lunch hour, know what I mean??!! Much more my style!

OH says there is a nice pub if you come off for Segensworth (West Fareham)) and go towards the river hamble to the marina (a pub on the right), (might be worth googling river hamble for location), he can't remember precisely but says it was a fantastic pub by the marina. Good luck I hope you find somewhere nice to lunch!
