Oh no, that is sad. I'm so sorry, Pam. It's easy for me to say, but at least you have had the extra time with him since his amputation.

This is such a devastating turn of events

Not a lot I can say to make you feel any better, but I can send big hugs for both you and Milo which I hope will make you feel a little better.

No need to tell you this, but love Milo and enjoy him for the time he has left with you. Remember, you have plenty of time to grieve when they are gone so make every second of every minute count while your beautiful brave boy is with you xxxx

Thank you everyone for your support. This has taken us all (vet included) by surprise. We were expecting it to migrate to his lungs or some other internal organ but it's quite unusual for it to affect more bone. It's very disappointing as he seemed to be doing so well and this deterioration will obviously be marked by acute pain rather than just discomfort or difficulty breathing. He has been on anti-inflammatories for a couple of weeks for a limp but, when my puppy pushed past him in a doorway on Monday morning and rendered him completely helpless on two legs and shaking with the pain, it was obviously more than just a sprain or arthritis.

I now have to be careful in case he fractures his leg although he can go out on the lead. I'm sure he will tell me when he's had enough.

I have found reading this post so terribly sad. I am desperately sorry for you and of course, Milo. Hugs to you both.
