Does my meal plan sound ok?

Hi all,
Just registered here as I'm about to embark on raw feeding and thought you lot all seemed very helpful!

I have a 20 month old pug who has always been fed on tinned food with a mixer (I've had him exactly a year now, his breeder kept him for the first 8 months). He has a lovely (black) glossy coat, but he poops for England (far too much for a little dog, and it stinks) and I think his current food makes him hyper.

I've trialled him on chicken wings which he manages fine, so I've bought a small extra freezer, found a supplier and am ready to place an order.

This is where I'm going to order from as they have a large range of products and are fairly local raw2paw.

I'm also going to make some veg mush and freeze into portions.

I will continue to feed him twice a day, in total about 250g per day (he weighs 9kgs and is pretty lean at the moment.

This is my current meal plan to be spread evenly over a week:
1 meal of minced tripe & oily fish mix, with some veg mush
1 meal of minced heart with some veg mush
6 meals of chicken wings/portion of chicken carcass /lamb bones
6 meals of minced lamb/beef/chicken/rabbit with some veg mush

Does that sound like an OK starter menu? I will keep him on chicken wings mainly for the first couple of weeks, then start introducing the other items gradually.

Any comments or advice gratefully received
Thanks!

tripe + oily fish mix + veg?

I think tripe on its own would be best, no need for veg

I would not feed veg with the fish either

And probably not with heart.

Oh really? The suppliers have a mince of tripe & oily fish that they recommended. I read that it was fine (& recommended if feeding the prey model) to mix the veg & offal as some dogs won't eat them separately, either they don't like veg or don't like offal but together they will probably wolf it all down without worry.

I'm here for advice though, so all views on this welcome. I haven't placed the order yet and have nearly 2 weeks until they can deliver in my area, so have time to get things right

Tripe includes "vegetable" matter already.

Both offal and vegetables are laxative so I would never combine the two!

But if it suits your dog fine, it is after all only my opinion.

I give Pereg vegetables with everything except when she has wings/necks/backs/carcases for her first meal on alternate days.

What about offal? Unless I've misread your post, I don't see any. You need to feed a small amount of liver and ideally a bit if other offal if you can get it (kidney, lung, pancreas). Nutritionally, heart is considered a muscle meat not offal for the purposes of the prey model diet

the only think i would suggest is adding the offal in e.g. liver and kidney.

its up to you how you would mix all the food in, i dont tend to mix any they get one type of mince per meal, but they have a wide variety over the weeks.

they get bone meals 3 times a week, and fish twice (depends if i buy tinned, or the packs from the supplier) they get offal twice a week too and they have one meal which is their egg cottage cheese and yoghurt.. sounds gross but they love it

I cannot get tripe, although I would if I could, and even though I feed poultry hearts and gizzards, which are classed as offal, I count them as muscle meat and not offal. Therefore I feed liver twice a week as it is the only form of "proper" I can get.

Pereg likes vegetables - she would be happy with just a bowl full of them, so I have no worries about bulking out her meals with vegetable "matter". She does not product massive soft stools, the vegetables fill her up, and they suit her.

A happy Pereg = a contented Pereg = a happy me.
