Need advice

Hello I have a question I need some help my 11 month old pomeranian he lifts up his right back leg I took him in to the vet to see what was wrong they tell me his knee cap is out of place and that he needs surgery! That's all they told me but his only 11 is there any other way to fix this? He sometimes walks fine but few minutes later he lifts it back up! It looks that he isn't in pain because he still eats he play and runs !

Sounds like luxating patella? As far as I'm aware surgery is the only way to fix this, without it he will slowly develop crippling painful knees as he ages....

Some vets try rest initially for small dogs, rather than going straight to surgery, but that can depend on how quiet the dog can be kept for 6-8 weeks, and on the degree of severity of the condition.

Rest can also have the drawback of reduce the support provided by better toned muscles.
