Unfortunately there are many ifs ands and buts in some breeds which are numerically small which will probably trigger MORE confusion in the lay person and potential customer.

I also hope that people use it properly.

A low COI all by its self does not necessarily mean healthier dogs.

It doesn't but it is another step in the right direction. Hopefully people who will bother to use it will also be the types that will be concerned ref health tests , sound temperament and the furthering of the breed etc

I agree I think it a fantastic tool but I am a little conserned about some of the comments I have seen on different sites discussing it.
I just hope it doesn't get used the wrong way.

Its a useful tool but even in a numerically large breed like mine its very inaccurate if the near relatives are imports or the bitch went to another country for mating.

I think the thing to remember is that it is A tool, rather than THE tool!

It is ONE of a number at anyone's disposal in order to determine their breeding/purchasing decisions
