Jinty and my diddy bun, Rimmi (size comparison)

Rimmi is my diddy 900g nethie....... sitting close to Jinty.

Jinty was kept on a lead and we were practicing her 'sit' while the bunnies hopped around the room. She did really well and was able to keep focused on me (or the chicken). In the long run, I want Jinty to ignore the rabbits, so this seemed like a good place to start.

Awww. I tryed this a few years back with a friends new staffie pup & my domestic house rabbit. It almost ended in tears......... The pup didn't have a chance, the rabbit launced herself at the pup & had a mouth full of fur to chew on when we managed to catch her & throw her back into the hutch. Luckily my friend saw the funny side (even though her pup did have a small bald patch for a while).

Blimey-that's faith, hoping your JRT will ignore small furry critturs!

Seriously he looks like he is doing brilliantly and one of my Kerry Blues can be recalled when in full flight after bunnies on the heath so it is possible with a terrier even though he has a high prey drive!

The buns are used to the family JRT so I wasn't worried about them. Jinty did very well, she obviously loves chicken more than bunnies.

Thats so sweet. Im sure given time, your pup will become used to the rabbits. Tilly is jrt x and I can have her with me when Im with the small furries and I have enough control to know she wont touch them. I dont leave her alone with them though. She's almost afraid of them. And cats! Defective terrier!!

Yes, being comfy with the house rabbit/cat/rat does NOT guarantee the same approach will be applied outside................
