My two have rolled leather collars they wear at home ONLY when me or Kyle are home. When we are out of the house the dogs do not have any collars on, I have heard too many horror stories about dogs strangling themselves or indeed fighting and causing an accident that way. However, I see no reason why they should not be wearing their rolled leather collars when we are present. The rolled leather collars stay on most of the time as they contain their identity tags so the dogs wear these under their "real" collars when walking.

I would say definitley okay if your home but a big no no if your not present.

mine don't have them on indoors as we use slip type leads when we walk or show........ I also find if they wear collars it rubs away the hair around the neck ..i might look out for some fine ones at crufts....

Hi Inca,

Here you go:

Not sure what they would be like on a long haired breed, my friend has a golden retriever which has medium length hair and uses one of these collars, they are really soft & dont mark the skin/fur.

er, i am different...

two boys only wear collars on special occasions, or if we are going somewhere new that i might need a lead for. Other than that they dont wear collars outside during the normal week (ummmvvvv)
Honey has to, as she needs to be held onto if someone is approaching, and cant be trusted to run ahead and wait at the road. Poppy is new, so is still on lead and under going training. I have about 5/6 collars in every colour for them, if we go out, i like them to match my outfit and each other. Honey has sparkly ones pink ones, she is a lady! So no one wears collars in the hoose.

Do you mean they dont wear collars when outside on your own land Jess or just out on a walk?

Sorry but I think it is very irresponsible to have a dog go outside with no collar on at all, whether you live in the most rural of areas ro a city setting unless its your own land (?) then I think it is completley irresponsible. It's all about safety not just the safety of your dogs from what they may do but also from other dogs and what they may do.
