Ben giving me his bone before going to sleep

That's what he did last night, on many occasions... 2 days ago I bought him a kangaroo tail bone, and Ben has been pretty good eating it, although many times he'd drop it in my lap... and, tbh I didn't want the slimy thing... so I kept giving it back to him... I know.... he's playing..

Last night he dropped the bone in my lap and went on the couch to sleep... I tossed the bone on the floor... I didn't want it, and Ben was asleep... Ben got up, picked up the bone and dropped it in my lap again, went up on the couch and went to sleep... Repeat!

The third time I lowered the bone very quietly onto the floor, and he didn't wake up...

Why does he DO this?

Sounds to me like he wants you to keep it safe while he gets down to the important business of sleeping

Kismet does this when she wants to go to sleep. She doesn't want the other dogs to get her bone and wont put it down, so she comes and gives it to me. I have to put it away in the dog cupboard before she will settle.

Far too clever this dog.

She also tries to swap her bones for whatever I have that she fancies...

Awh, sweet. Willow used to pee over her bones so others wouldn't nab them.

Indi (greyhound) buries her treats if she doesn't want them immediately so the others can't get to them, the trouble is she spends ages doing this and even goes to the trouble of pushing a stone/rock on top when she has finished (i think to disguise the smell??) but she never makes a very good job of the whole process even tho she spends ages on it. One of the others will then go over and dig it up, much to her frustration!! Poor Indi

Poor Pharaoh has to have his bines taken away once he has finished with them or he will try to bury them in the carpet with his nose until it bleeds
