Worried about Dermaxx side effects

Had to rush Junior to the vet this morning, he was crying in pain when he got up this morning The vet said he slipped a disc in his neck and gave him a cortisone shot and said to give him 1 dermaxx (75 m) a day for eight days. I just looked online and read pets with horrible reactions and even died taking this drug. Do you have any experience with this drug? He is almost 11 years old and 148 # great pryreness.

Slipped discs can be painful so I imagine he needs some pain relief. I have not heard go Dermaxx before though - could you raise these concerns with your vet? They might be able to suggest an alternative.
