I go to the NW Highlands every year and dogs have always been allowed on all of the beaches at all times of the year. In fact there are usually only me and my dogs on the beach

The Isle of Skye is fine for dogs, as long as they don't chase sheep, as they are everywhere.

We are trying to compile a site with all dog freindly businesses and places on so could you let me know if you have success in your search and i'll add your recommendations on to our site.
cheers and happy holiday.

ps I walk my dogs on the beach all the time and the lack of dog bins causes problems have a look at www.dickybag.com it solved the problem for us

Kinshaldy Beach north of St Andrew's is a haunt of ours. Access it through Tentsmuir Forrest - it is signposted from the road. You have to pay £1 to park the car - but then you have the forest and the beach to run on.

If you don't fancy going north of St. Andrews there is a section of the West Sands that is dog friendly there - but you have to go quite a distance along. The various areas are signposted.

North West coast there's some fab dog beaches.

Gairloch - the beach by the golf course.
Morar - Just south of Mallaig
Applecross bay
Sand (just north of Applecross) is AMAZING. You may have seen Monty Halls' Great Escape: Beachcomber Cottage on TV
Mellon Udrigle (although there's sheep)
Gruinard Bay
Sanna - at Ardnamurchan

Too many to mention.

Near where I live in the East you've got St Andrews which is good and Tentsmuir even better.

PS

I'll add some pics later if you like.
