Has anyone ever had a colonic?

No, but I've seen them having it done on the telly on that "You Are What You Eat" programme and they don't seem to be in any pain with it, just a bit uncomfortable I expect! A friend of mine had them done regularly as she was an aromatherapy specialist and believed in all that, then she sadly ended up with bowel cancer 2 years ago, which just goes to show it doesn't protect you against diseases.

Let us know how it goes then as I would be interested as I quite fancy having that done!

In my opinion - I have to question the purported benefits of this. To be a bit graphic, stuff is meant to come down the bowel not up it and the body is pretty good at getting rid of its 'toxins' and cleansing itself and there is no scientific proof that this works. It can cause perforation of the colon and lead to infections if the equipment used isn't clean enough. A healthy diet should lead to healthy bowel movements, which should lead to proper elimination.

I know it sounds boring but go on a healthy 'detox' - cut down on excess saturated fats, alcohol ( ), caffeine, refined sugars and processed stuff, carbonated drinks, e-numbers and drugs and eat lots of healthy, fresh, coloured veggies, some healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, fresh fruits, lean protein, lots and lots of water and you can't go wrong.

And exercise. It's good for you

My boss had it done and she lost weight immediately and said she felt cleaner inside.

Not for the faint hearted

Had an Enema or 2, yrs ago when I had my babies..... (same thing just the old fashioned way) No way would i put myself through somthing like that, I would rather go through labour again than having that done by choice...... If you want a detox...... Do as Lucky Star has said....... HEALTHY DETOX..... much better for you.
